Cookie policy

The short version

Interaction Checker does not set cookies. There is no login, no advertising, and no cross-site tracking, so there is nothing to consent to and no banner to dismiss. This page explains the two things the site does keep or measure, and how to remove them.

Local storage: your checker list

When you add medicines, supplements, or foods in the checker, the list is saved in your browser's local storage under the key interaction-checker:v1. Local storage is a browser feature, not a cookie: it is never sent to any server, it is not readable by other websites, and it only exists so that your list is still there next time. Remove it with the "Clear" button in the checker, or by clearing site data for this site in your browser settings. The site also caches its own pages and drug data in your browser (a service worker) so it loads fast and works offline; that cache holds nothing personal and clears with your site data.

Analytics without cookies

We use Plausible Analytics to see, in aggregate, how many people visit and which pages they read. Plausible does not use cookies, local storage, or any persistent identifier, does not collect personal data, and does not follow you to other sites. It is why this site needs no cookie consent banner under the GDPR, the ePrivacy Directive, or the CCPA. If you would rather not be counted at all, a content blocker that blocks plausible.io will do it; the site works exactly the same.

Strictly necessary cookies from our host

The site is delivered by Cloudflare. In rare situations, for example when it needs to tell a browser from an automated bot, Cloudflare may set a short-lived security cookie such as __cf_bm. These cookies are strictly necessary for the site to be served securely, contain no personal information, and expire within about 30 minutes.

Third-party links

Links to DailyMed, openFDA, NIH, and other sites lead to services with their own cookie practices. The optional FDA lookup in the checker sends only the name you typed to api.fda.gov, which does not set cookies on this site.

Changes and contact

If we ever add anything that uses cookies, this page and the privacy policy will change first, and we would add a consent control where the law requires one. Questions: hello@elowinlabs.com.
