Concomitant Use with Estrogen-Containing Products, Including Oral Contraceptives Some estrogen-containing oral contraceptives have been shown to decrease serum concentrations of lamotrigine [see Clinical Pharmacology ( 12.3 )] .
Dosage adjustments will be necessary in most patients who start or stop estrogen-containing oral contraceptives while taking SUBVENITE [see Dosage and Administration ( 2.1 )] .
Estrogen-containing oral contraceptives decrease lamotrigine concentrations by approximately 50%.
Specific dosing guidance for these drugs is provided in the Dosage and Administration section, and, for women taking estrogen-containing products, including oral contraceptives, in the Warnings and Precautions section [see Dosage and Administration ( 2.1 ), Warnings and Precautions ( 5.9 )] .

COCs have been shown to decrease plasma concentrations of acetaminophen, clofibric acid, morphine, salicylic acid, temazepam and lamotrigine.
Significant decrease in plasma concentration of lamotrigine has been shown, likely due to induction of lamotrigine glucuronidation.
This may reduce seizure control; therefore, dosage adjustments of lamotrigine may be necessary.
