• In patients who have demonstrated allergic-type reactions to sulfonamides [ see Warnings and Precautions (5.7) ].
• Known hypersensitivity to celecoxib, or any components of the drug product or sulfonamides.
Celecoxib is a sulfonamide and both NSAIDs and sulfonamides may cause allergic type reactions including anaphylactic symptoms and life-threatening or less severe asthmatic episodes in certain susceptible people [ see Contraindications (4) and Warnings and Precautions (5.8) ].
Patients at greatest risk of this reaction are those with impaired renal function, dehydration, hypovolemia , heart failure, liver dysfunction, those taking diuretics, ACE inhibitors or the ARBs, and the elderly.
• In patients who are elderly, volume-depleted (including those on diuretic therapy), or have renal impairment, co-administration of an NSAID with ACE inhibitors or ARBs may result in deterioration of renal function, including possible acute renal failure.
