Atracurium and Isoflurane interaction
Atracurium and Isoflurane: both prescribing labels describe an interaction that usually calls for monitoring, a dose change, or spacing the doses.

What the FDA labels say
From the Isoflurane (FORANE) label · effective 2024-12-09
In general, anesthetic concentrations of FORANE at equilibrium reduce the ED 95 of succinylcholine, atracurium, pancuronium, rocuronium and vecuronium by approximately 25 to 40% or more compared to N 2 O/opioid anesthesia.
• FORANE decreases the doses of neuromuscular blocking agents required.
Neuromuscular Blocking Agents FORANE potentiates the muscle relaxant effect of all neuromuscular blocking agents and decreases the required doses of neuromuscular blocking agents.
If added relaxation is required, supplemental doses of neuromuscular blocking agents may be used.
From the Atracurium (Atracurium Besylate) label · effective 2024-12-04
Drug Interactions Drugs which may enhance the neuromuscular blocking action of atracurium include: enflurane; isoflurane; halothane; certain antibiotics, especially the aminoglycosides and polymyxins; lithium; magnesium salts; procainamide; and quinidine.
