Beclomethasone and Flunisolide interaction
Beclomethasone and Flunisolide: both prescribing labels describe an interaction that usually calls for monitoring, a dose change, or spacing the doses.
Usually manageable with monitoring or a dose change. Tell your pharmacist you take both.
What the FDA labels say
From the Beclomethasone (QVAR REDIHALER) label · effective 2024-06-25
Lung function (FEV 1 or PEF), beta‑agonist use, and asthma symptoms should be carefully monitored during withdrawal of oral or other systemic corticosteroids.
Patients requiring oral or other systemic corticosteroids should be weaned slowly from oral or other systemic corticosteroid use after transferring to QVAR REDIHALER.
From the Flunisolide label · effective 2025-04-30
Pregnancy As with other corticosteroids, flunisolide has been shown to be teratogenic and fetotoxic in rabbits and rats at oral doses of 40 and 200 mcg/kg/day, respectively (approximately 2 and 4 times, respectively, the maximum recommended daily intranasal dose in adults on a mg/m 2 basis).
Because other corticosteroids are excreted in human milk, caution should be exercised when flunisolide is administered to nursing women.
