Nonsteroidal Anti-Inflammatory Agents (NSAIDS) Concomitant use of aspirin (or other nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory agents) and corticosteroids increases the risk of gastrointestinal side effects [see Warnings and Precautions ( 5.7 ) and Adverse Reactions ( 6 )] .

Other factors that increase the risk of GI bleeding in patients treated with NSAIDs include longer duration of NSAID therapy; concomitant use of oral corticosteroids, antiplatelet drugs (such as aspirin), anticoagulants, or selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs); smoking; use of alcohol; older age; and poor general health status.
Corticosteroids Clinical Impact: Concomitant use of corticosteroids with Piroxicam Capsules may increase the risk of GI ulceration or bleeding.
Intervention: Monitor patients with concomitant use of Piroxicam Capsules with corticosteroids for signs of bleeding [see Warnings and Precautions (5.2)].
