Phenobarbital or Primidone: Higher dosage of APTIOM may be necessary.
Anyone considering prescribing APTIOM or any other AED must balance this risk with the risk of untreated illness.
Other Antiepileptic Drugs Several AEDs (e.g., carbamazepine, phenobarbital, phenytoin, and primidone) can induce enzymes that metabolize APTIOM and can cause decreased plasma concentrations of eslicarbazepine [see Clinical Pharmacology ( 12.3 )].

Neonatal hemorrhage, with a coagulation defect resembling vitamin K deficiency, has been described in newborns whose mothers were taking primidone and other anticonvulsants.
