Fluticasone and salmeterol and Terbutaline interaction

Avoid Excessive Use of Fluticasone Propionate/Salmeterol and Avoid Use with Other Long-Acting Beta 2 -Agonists Fluticasone Propionate/Salmeterol MDPI should not be used more often than recommended, at higher doses than recommended, or in conjunction with other medicines containing LABA, as an overdose may result.

If paradoxical bronchospasm occurs following dosing with inhaled fluticasone propionate/salmeterol medicines, it should be treated immediately with an inhaled, short-acting bronchodilator; inhaled fluticasone propionate/salmeterol medicines should be discontinued immediately; and alternative therapy should be instituted.

Drug Interactions The concomitant use of terbutaline sulfate tablets with other sympathomimetic agents is not recommended, since the combined effect on the cardiovascular system may be deleterious to the patient.

If the patient needs more doses of terbutaline sulfate tablets than usual, this may be a marker of destabilization of asthma and requires reevaluation of the patient and the treatment regimen, giving special consideration to the possible need for anti-inflammatory treatment, e.g., corticosteroids.

Early consideration should be given to adding anti-inflammatory agents, e.g., corticosteroids.

Cardiovascular Effects Terbutaline sulfate, like all other beta-adrenergic agonists, can produce a clinically significant cardiovascular effect in some patients as measured by pulse rate, blood pressure, and/or symptoms.
