What the FDA labels say
From the Lithium (Lithium Carbonate) label · effective 2026-08-16
• Diuretics, NSAID, renin-angiotensin system antagonists, or metronidazole may increase lithium serum concentrations.
Non-Steroidal Anti-inflammatory Drugs (NSAID) Clinical Impact: NSAID decrease renal blood flow, resulting in decreased renal clearance and increased serum lithium concentrations.
From the Naproxen and esomeprazole (Naproxen and esomeprazole magnesium) label · effective 2026-05-27
Lithium Clinical Impact : NSAIDs have produced elevations of plasma lithium levels and reductions in renal lithium clearance.
The mean minimum lithium concentration increased 15%, and the renal clearance decreased by approximately 20%.
Intervention : During concomitant use of naproxen and esomeprazole magnesium delayed-release tablets and lithium, monitor patients for signs of lithium toxicity.
