P-Glycoprotein (P-gp) Inhibitors Clinical Impact: The concomitant use of P-gp inhibitors can increase the exposure to morphine by two-fold and can increase the risk of hypotension, respiratory depression, profound sedation, coma, and death.
Intervention: Evaluate patients for signs of respiratory depression that may be greater than otherwise expected and decrease the dosage of Morphine Sulfate Oral Solution and/or the P-gp inhibitor as necessary.

Consider the use of a parenteral anti-platelet agent in acute coronary syndrome patients requiring co-administration of morphine or other opioid agonists.
• Opioids: Decreased exposure to ticagrelor.
Opioids As with other oral P2Y 12 inhibitors, co-administration of opioid agonists delay and reduce the absorption of ticagrelor and its active metabolite presumably because of slowed gastric emptying [see Clinical Pharmacology (12.3) ] .
