Monitoring of phenytoin concentration is recommended when clonazepam is co-administrated with phenytoin.
Cytochrome P-450 inducers, such as phenytoin, carbamazepine, lamotrigine, and phenobarbital induce clonazepam metabolism, causing an approximately 38% decrease in plasma clonazepam levels.
They should also be warned about the concomitant use of alcohol or other CNS-depressant drugs during Klonopin therapy (see PRECAUTIONS: Drug Interactions and PRECAUTIONS: Information for Patients ).
