(See WARNINGS .) Lithium generally should not be given with diuretics because they reduce its renal clearance and add a high risk of lithium toxicity.

Amiloride may be considered as a therapeutic agent for lithium-induced nephrogenic diabetes insipidus.
• Diuretics, NSAID, renin-angiotensin system antagonists, or metronidazole may increase lithium serum concentrations.

Discontinue lithium or treat with amiloride as a therapeutic agent ( 5.2 ).
