Facts, myths, and online claims

Amphetamine and dextroamphetamine (Adderall, Adderall XR, Mydayis) is a mix of amphetamine salts. It is a central nervous system stimulant used as part of a treatment program for attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), and the immediate-release tablet is also approved for narcolepsy. The tablet is usually taken two or three times a day, four to six hours apart. The extended-release capsule is taken once in the morning and can be swallowed whole or sprinkled on applesauce. It is a Schedule II controlled substance.
