What the FDA labels say
From the Trifluoperazine (Trifluoperazine Hydrochloride) label · effective 2026-01-30
CONTRAINDICATIONS A known hypersensitivity to phenothiazines, comatose or greatly depressed states due to central nervous system depressants and, in cases of existing blood dyscrasias, bone marrow depression and preexisting liver damage.
If agents such as sedatives, narcotics, anesthetics, tranquilizers or alcohol are used either simultaneously or successively with the drug, the possibility of an undesirable additive depressant effect should be considered.
From the Lemborexant (DAYVIGO) label · effective 2025-02-24
CNS Depressant Effects and Daytime Impairment: Impairs alertness and motor coordination including morning impairment.
Risk increases with dose and use with other central nervous system (CNS) depressants.
Co-administration with other CNS depressants (e.g., benzodiazepines, opioids, tricyclic antidepressants, alcohol) increases the risk of CNS depression, which can cause daytime impairment.
Dosage adjustments of DAYVIGO and of concomitant CNS depressants may be necessary when administered together because of potentially additive effects.
CNS Depressant Effects and Daytime Impairment DAYVIGO is a central nervous system (CNS) depressant that can impair daytime wakefulness even when used as prescribed.
