Sertraline hydrochloride capsules are contraindicated in patients: Taking, or within 14 days of stopping, MAOIs, (including the MAOIs linezolid and intravenous methylene blue) because of an increased risk of serotonin syndrome [see Warnings and Precautions ( 5.2 ), Drug Interactions ( 7.1 )] .

Concomitant use of monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs), or use within 14 days of stopping MAOIs ( 4 , 7.1 )

Serotonin Syndrome: Increased risk when co-administered with other serotonergic agents, but also when taken alone.

The concomitant use of sertraline hydrochloride capsules with MAOIs is contraindicated.

If concomitant use of sertraline hydrochloride capsules with other serotonergic drugs is clinically warranted, inform patients of the increased risk for serotonin syndrome and monitor for symptoms.

Do not take tranylcypromine sulfate tablets if you: take certain medicines, including: antidepressants, such as: other monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs) selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs) and serotonin and norepinephrine reuptake inhibitors (SNRIs) tricyclic antidepressants other antidepressants, such as amoxapine, bupropion, maprotiline, nefazodone,…

Serotonin Syndrome The development of a potentially life-threatening serotonin syndrome has been reported with MAOIs when used concomitantly with other serotonergic drugs.

The concomitant use, or use in rapid succession, of tranylcypromine sulfate tablets with other serotonergic drugs is contraindicated.
