Prednison (Deltasone, Rayos) ist ein Kortikosteroid, eine synthetische Version eines Hormons, das die Nebennieren bilden. Es verringert Entzündungen und dämpft das Immunsystem. Es wird bei vielen Erkrankungen angewendet, darunter Arthritis, Lupus, schwere Allergien, Asthmaschübe, Hautkrankheiten, manche Krebsarten und niedrige körpereigene Kortikosteroidspiegel. Es gibt es als Tabletten, als Tablette mit verzögerter Freisetzung und als Flüssigkeiten, und es wird in der Regel mit Nahrung ein- bis viermal täglich oder jeden zweiten Tag eingenommen.
