Dronedarone and Etravirine interaction
Dronedarone and Etravirine: both prescribing labels flag this combination with the strongest language, such as a contraindication, a boxed warning, or an instruction to avoid it.
Do not combine without a prescriber's guidance. The label language below is the strongest FDA uses.
What the FDA labels say
From the Dronedarone (Multaq) label · effective 2026-01-27
Rifampin and Other CYP3A Inducers Avoid rifampin or other CYP3A inducers such as phenobarbital, carbamazepine, phenytoin, and St.
Follow label recommendations for concomitant use of other statins with a CYP3A and P-gp inhibitor like dronedarone.
From the Etravirine label · effective 2025-04-02
CCR5 antagonists maraviroc ↔ etravirine ↓ maraviroc When Etravirine is co-administered with maraviroc in the absence of a potent CYP3A inhibitor (e.g., ritonavir boosted protease inhibitor), the recommended dose of maraviroc is 600 mg twice daily.
Other agents Antiarrhythmics : digoxin ↔ etravirine ↑ digoxin For patients who are initiating a combination of Etravirine and digoxin, the lowest dose of digoxin should initially be prescribed.
The serum digoxin concentrations should be monitored and used for titration of the digoxin dose to obtain the desired clinical effect. amiodarone bepridil disopyramide flecainide lidocaine (systemic) mexiletine propafenone quinidine ↓ antiarrhythmics Concentrations of these antiarrhythmics may be decreased when co-administered with Etravirine.
Etravirine and antiarrhythmics should be co-administered with caution.
Antifungals : itraconazole ketoconazole posaconazole ↑ etravirine ↓ itraconazole ↓ ketoconazole ↔ posaconazole Posaconazole, a potent inhibitor of CYP3A4, may increase plasma concentrations of etravirine.
