Escitalopram ist ein Antidepressivum aus der Gruppe der SSRI, das als Lexapro und vielfach als Generikum verkauft wird. Es ist die wirksame Einzelform des älteren Wirkstoffs Citalopram und erhöht die Menge an Serotonin, die im Gehirn verfügbar ist. Es ist für die Major Depression bei Menschen ab 12 Jahren und für die generalisierte Angststörung bei Menschen ab 7 Jahren zugelassen.
