El zolpidem (Ambien, Ambien CR, Edluar, Zolpimist, Intermezzo) es un sedante-hipnótico que se prescribe para el tratamiento a corto plazo del insomnio, principalmente la dificultad para conciliar el sueño. Es una sustancia controlada. Se toma una vez por noche justo antes de acostarse, con el estómago vacío, solo cuando quedan de 7 a 8 horas antes de levantarse. Las mujeres y los adultos mayores suelen empezar con 5 mg, los hombres con 5 o 10 mg. Lleva una advertencia en recuadro sobre sonambulismo, conducción dormido y otras actividades realizadas sin estar del todo despierto.
