About Zolpidem

Zolpidem (Ambien, Ambien CR, Edluar, Zolpimist, Intermezzo) is a sedative-hypnotic prescribed for the short-term treatment of insomnia, mainly trouble falling asleep. It is a controlled substance. It is taken once a night right before bed, on an empty stomach, only when 7 to 8 hours remain before getting up. Women and older adults usually start at 5 mg, men at 5 or 10 mg. It carries a boxed warning for sleepwalking, sleep-driving, and other activities done while not fully awake.
